STYLE IS.... WORKSHOP RECAP

Greetings and Happy Tuesday,
This past Saturday, a friend and I had the opportunity to attend the STYLE IS fashion and beauty workshop hosted by the lovely and most fashionable LaShoundra that blogs over at Young At Style.  The workshop was beyond AMAZING and very informative.  It began with the opportunity to mix and mingle with everyone and shop with the vendors in the lobby.  We were also provided with delicious refreshments and swag bags that were super cute with awesome gifts inside.  There were four key topics discussed that included power point slides, live demonstrations and interactive activities.  There was also a style panel at the end which included LaShoundra, Keshia at Keeping Style Affortable, Morrell at Morrell's Armoire and Kim at Naturally Fashionable via facetime.  In between topic discussions, there were several giveaways held which included gift cards, tickets to upcoming events, and jewelry. The workshop was very fun, entertaining and empowering.   We learned a lot, we laughed a lot and also cried (LaShoundra more than others…lol).  It was my very first blog networking event and it was a great experience and I can’t wait to attend next year’s workshop.  Below, I will recap moments from the event.

First can we give it up for the swag bags waiting for us! Inside was a fly pair of glasses, a mini sewing kit, and business cards from the vendors. Absolutely LOVE!!!   The folder included our reading material and power point slides on the topics discussed.

LaShoundra demonstrated here the importance of defining your personal style and owning it.   No matter what you wear, whether it is a trash bag or an actual garment, WEAR “IT” DON’T LET “IT” WEAR YOU!!

She also explained the five body types; Pear, Apple, Rectangle, Inverted Triangle and the infamous Hourglass..lol.  LaShoundra explained these body types in great detail and gave examples of what looks good on each one.   We all were able to determine our body types by pairing up and measuring our bust, waist and hips.  I am an hourglass by the way ;)…..teheheheheh!!!!

Next, Keshia from Keeping Style Affortable discussed and demonstrated the art of mixing prints here. Listening to her, really eased my apprehensiveness of mixing prints.

Here, talented makeup artist Angela of TruHues Makeup Artistry discussed how your makeup is an added accessory to your overall look.  I totally agree ;)!!  She captured each unique makeup look of the ladies and explained how their makeup compliments their style. She also gave each guest and opportunity to win tickets to her upcoming makeup trunk show next month.  Thankfully, I was one of those winners :)! J

The workshop ended with a Style panel in which all of the ladies voiced their insecurities and how we all deal with issues in our private lives.  This part of the workshop was very powerful and motivating because as a society looking in, it is always obvious to think that someone’s life is perfect.  Being perfect in our own unique way is what makes us stand out amongst the crowd!!!

Overall, this event was awesome and I am so glad I attended. Meeting these ladies was like catching up with old friends.  They were very down to earth, funny and supportive of one another and I can't wait to see what the future has in store for them.  Please click the above links and check out these FABULOUS ladies' style blog.   I also would like to thank my friend for going with me Jameshia. We had a BLAST!!!

Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed week!!
