Holy Grail

Happy New Years Eve,

Well 2013 has come to an end and we will be leaping head first into 2014. It was a blessed year for my family and I am looking forward to more blessings to come in 2014. I stop making New Years resolutions because I usually fall off about 4 months in......lol, so I just say I want to be better than I was last year. All in all, I wish you all the best New Year you can ever imagine. Sooo, on this past Saturday, hubby and I went to see Jay Z in concert. I named the title "Holy Grail" because my sister in law made a funny statement saying I had my holy grail outfit on, in which you all know that is one of his popular songs right now. That was sooooo funny to me so I had to title this post just that. So here is my "Holy Grail" outfit.....lol. (Please excuse the picture quality. They were taken with my phone.)

Beauty Beat - DIY Lip Scrub

Greetings beauties!!!  I hope you and your family had a wonderful CHRISTmas filled with love, laughter, and cheer.  Our Christmas was good, however, we were all getting over illnesses from the flu to food poison.  So, we were all dragging from the lack of energy that brought upon us.  I wanted to have this post up before Christmas, but between the sicknesses and getting ready for Christmas, I didn't have the time.  I posted a picture on my Instagram of this homemade lip scrub I made for my co-workers for Christmas gifts. It is a simple DIY beauty product used to exfoliate and moisturize the lips. In the dry winter months, I think it is safe to say that we can all use some lip exfoliating and moisturizing.    These would also make great bridal and baby shower favors, or for any other special occasion.  I have listed the ingredients and directions below of how to make this yummy lip scrub (all of the ingredients are edible.)

Ingredients
  • 3 cups Granulated Sugar
  • ½ cup fresh grapefruit juice (approximately one half a ripe grapefruit)
  • ½ cup olive oil
  • 2 tbsp Coconut oil
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
Instructions
  1. Squeeze fresh grapefruit juice. Strain out any pulp and seeds.
  2. Mix together sugar, juice, coconut oil, vanilla and olive oil in a bowl. (make sure to lightly mix.  You do not want the sugar to dissolve)
  3. Store in a tightly covered container. Keeping it refrigerated will make it last longer.
  4. To use, scoop out with your hands and scrub gently on skin. Rinse with warm water and pat dry.

**Please note that the grapefruit & vanilla flavoring is optional.  You can personalize your lip scrub to your liking with other delicious flavoring.

Thanks for stopping by and please share any of your DIY beauty products, I would LOVE to hear from you!!

The Little Black Dress....

Hello Fabulous ladies,

This past Saturday, I attended a birthday dinner with my mom celebrating for her two  close friends.  The color scheme was black, red, & white.  I was excited to wear my new Simply Vera Wang dress from Kohl's that I eyeballed for a good week.  I wasn't sure if I really liked it, but what's not to like, right???  Its a beautiful simple, but chic LBD and I LOVE IT!!!  I received so many compliments about this dress.  What I love about it is the transition of the lace & Satin-like material, which give the illusion of a two-piece. When I first saw it in the store, I thought it was separate pieces and after about ten minutes searching for the "lace top", the associate told me it was a dress......lol.  To top this look off, I wore my absolute favorite red lip and a red clutch.  Hope you enjoy....(went a little pic cray cray!!!)

This Christmas Tree was so beautiful!

Wrapped in Polka Dots!

Hi Ladies,

So have you ever went to the thrift store looking for one thing and come out with several other things besides what you went for??? Well, that recently happen to me on one of my thrift store run.  When I laid eyes on this vintage wrap polka dot dress, it was immediately snatched. I think polka dot dresses are fun, girlish, and playful. And the fact that this is a wrap dress, just gave so much more femininity.   This bold print dress was the focal point of my outfit, so I kept my accessories to a minimum.  I did not want to wear tights , but it was cold and I am just getting over a terrible cold.  So this was my outfit on yesterday.  Enjoy the pics!!

Woooo.....didn't know all that leg was showing:0!

Please ignore the heels that disappeared into the grass.......lol

Beauty Beat - Skin Care

Hello Beauties,

I am often stopped and asked what kind of makeup products, specifically foundation, I use and people are quite surprised by my response that my favorite everyday foundation is a drug store brand.  It seems that the expected response would be that of a high-end brand, considering that I don't think my makeup is that flat out flawless as I really would like it to be.  In my opinion,  a healthy skincare regimen is crucial and should be the first thing to worry about before applying any makeup.   I am definitely not an expert and what works for me may not work for you, however, I would like to share with you the products I use and how I use them in my everyday skincare routine

Lets start with the products:

Products: Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser/Neutrogena Deep Clean Facial Cleanser/ Dickinson  Oil Controlling astringent/ Freeman Facial Clay Mask w/ Avocado & Oatmeal/ Cetaphil Daily Facial  Moisturizer  w/ SPF 15/Pond's Dry Skin Facial Moisturizer/Huggies Baby Wipes/Up & Up Eye Makeup remover.

Before I begin the process of cleansing my face, I first remove my makeup with baby wipes .  There are different brands of makeup removing wipes, but I prefer using baby wipes because it is inexpensive and is not harsh on the skin.  Of course, if it is good for babies' delicate skin, it is good for you and I.  I remove my eye make up with Target's Up & Up eye makeup remover.  The Target Up & Up eye makeup remover is compared to the Neutrogena Oil-Free  Eye Makeup remover.  This product is amazing being that it is a store brand.  It completely removes the eye makeup with one swipe.  It works great and it only cost about $4.00.

I use three different products when it come to cleansing my face.  The Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser is used as my daily facial wash.  It is very gentle and mild on the skin and removes the dirt without over drying.   The Cetaphil brand also has body washes & lotions that are great for sensitive, dry skin. Both of my kids have dry skin and the pediatrician recommends this product for them.   The Neutrogena Deep Clean Facial Cleanser is used twice a week as my deep cleansing wash.  It is amazing at cleaning deeply into the pores and improving  your skin's overall appearance.  I use this product with the Face Secrets Cleansing Brush. I do own the Oil of Olay Pro Advanced cleansing system, however, I prefer using the Face Secrets cleansing brush because I can control how firm I press against my face.  Once a week, I give myself a mini-facial using the Freeman's facial clay mask.  This product helps removes excess dirt build up and leaves your skin INCREDIBLY soft.

After the face is thoroughly clean, I follow up with a toner to remove any excess dirt left behind.  My choice of toner is the Dickinson's Original Witch Hazel Oil Controlling Astringent.  This product" fights blemishes, cleans deep, will not dry, eliminates shine, and is 100% natural".  I love this product because it does exactly what it says.  It feels very smooth and does not irritate my skin.  If you keep a bottle of witch hazel in the house, it works great as a toner as well.   Lastly, I apply a facial moisturizer.  For my day time moisturizer, I use the Cetaphil  Daily Facial Moisturizer with SPF 15. This moisturizer is the best moisturizer with sunscreen by far that I have used because it is very light and not super greasy, but gives the right amount of protection from the sun.  As a night time moisturizer, I use the Pond's Dry Skin Cream.  Pond's  product line has been around for years, but I just recently realized what great products it has.  This facial cream works really well with my dry skin. It is very hydrating and it is not greasy.  As you can tell, I absolutely HATE products on my face that is super greasy.  It just feels very heavy and uncomfortable.

In a nutshell, this is my everyday skincare routine and I hope that this information was helpful to you all.  Please comment below with your everyday skincare regimen.  I would love to hear from you.

Thanks as always for stopping by.  It is GREATLY appreciated!
